Heat pump servicing
A yearly heat pump service costs €120 to €290 for an air-to-water heat pump and €220 to €300 for ground source. It takes 60 to 90 minutes and keeps most manufacturers' warranties valid.
Free, no obligation. One local company prices it, not five.

What a service covers
- Outdoor unit: the coil cleaned, the fan and its bearings checked, the condensate tray and drain cleared.
- Indoor unit and cylinder: the magnetic filter cleaned, the system pressure and the expansion vessel checked, the immersion and the weekly legionella cycle confirmed.
- Refrigerant: a leak check, by an engineer with an F-gas certificate, and the record kept.
- Controls: the settings, the weather compensation curve and the error history.
- Electrics: the supply, the connections and the isolator.
Why it matters
Manufacturers expect a yearly service to keep the warranty. Mitsubishi Electric's 7-year guarantee covers units installed since 1 April 2023 that were registered within 6 months; Daikin's standard 2 years can go to 5 with registration through an approved installer. Miss the service and the warranty can go with it.
A dirty coil, a blocked filter or low pressure makes the heat pump work harder for the same heat, so the bills go up before anything breaks.
Near the sea, salt builds up on the outdoor coil. A coastal service costs €180 to €240.
